Larry Whitler - 12 String Poet: Press

Simply Wonderful!

By radiogurl41 – March 29, 2010

Larry Whitler captures imagination and guides you on a melodious journey through life’s joys and sorrows.  Between Dreams And Memories is a wonderful tribute to life and the idea of living it to its fullest.

You can feel the very essence of love, of longing, of sadness in the methodical clacking of the train in “On The Old Railroad”.  Everyone has wondered at least once in their lifetime whether the train on that track was meant for them or someone else.  Making the choice to finally get on shows you just how much we all can learn from change; even if it is not welcome at first.

The uplifting and reassuring lyric of “One Hundred Corny Poems” charms and delights; while the insightful and perceptive lyrics in “Dreams Of Men And Women” lend a deeper understanding of each man and woman’s responsibility to care for one another.  To grasp the understanding that we all have dreams and we all strive for comfort and stability … we are the pilgrims, we are their history, and we all share the responsibility to help the children understand.

1970 Nova is a nostalgic trip through American boyhood and the love affair every red-blooded American boy has with his first car.  Symbolic of freedom, responsibility, and joy; it is not “just another machine.”

Between Dreams And Memories is a wonderful illustration of how “standing at the terminal” is not an option; get on that train!  Film producers and Cedar Key’s Historic societies have already set their sights on several tracks from this album.  You will thoroughly enjoy the lively melodies in Between Dreams And Memories!

Review of "Between Dreams And Memories"

I have been awaiting the new release of Larry’s CD with much anticipation.  Larry Whitler has been a singing sensation since the 70’s with his soft rock style of music reminiscent of the early Beatles slow songs.  He has a laid back relaxing and soothing quality to his voice which is very appealing.  His lyrics and interpretation of true life events are very heartfelt and leaves you with an overall warm feeling inside.  His rhythm is crisp and clear.  His vocals are perfect.  Although I thoroughly enjoyed the entire CD there are a few songs that stand out.  “The Angels Of St. Mere Eglise” a true story put to song by Larry of a soldier, John Marvin Steele, who landed in the town atop of the church steeple.  Another is “Lovesick American, Pierre” another true story put to song about a WWII American, Peter O’Hare.  Larry has a way of taking ordinary every day occurrences like in his song “On The Old Railroad” and bringing them to life making them enjoyable to listen to as well as tell a story at the same time.  Listening to Larry’s CD you can imagine being there in the places he sings about and actually experience them through his wonderful songs.  Am I a fan?  Yes, big time.  His wonderful CD and heartfelt songs will appeal to a wide range audience who enjoys good music, good true stories put to song and his smooth beautiful voice will take you to another plateau altogether.
